Air Force Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (PSCM) Program

NewVectors is a partner in supporting the Air Force Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (PSCM) program, an initiative to completely change the Air Force’s strategy for managing suppliers and supplies. PSCM will transform the relationship between the Air Force and their material suppliers to better exploit the market power of the Air Force’s $35B per year budget for procurement and supply. PSCM will improve planning, reduce the cost of material, reduce procurement time and contribute to a 20% improvement in aircraft availability. PSCM practices will give the Air Force an advantage in the marketplace and allow it to lower its material costs while gaining better levels of service from its suppliers and improving its distribution and repair performance.

Bottom line, PSCM significantly improves warfighter support.

The purpose of the PSCM initiative is to introduce PSCM practices into the Air Force and develop the management structures, training and business case for PSCM, and quickly stand up these new processes. NewVectors staff co-leads several of the PSCM work teams and pathfinders that are developing these new processes. Recently NewVectors staff members were cited, by AFMC/LG for their “forward thinking abilities (that) significantly contributed to the progress of the PSCM initiative.”

PSCM has progressed to the stage where the practices are now being rolled out to Air Force activities.
