Supply Chain Engineering

Doing more with less is a priority across government
This is especially true in logistics, where the government is
transforming defense and federal civilian enterprises into organizations
that quickly and efficiently distribute resources to the end user.
Through the use of a diverse set of analytical tools and methodologies,
NewVectors builds tailored processes that are transforming logistics
enterprises into lean, agile, and customer-focused organizations that
directly support their taxpayer and warfighter missions.
Delivering resilient, customer-focused supply chain networks
Supply chain engineering is the systematic analysis and redesign of
supply and logistics networks and supplier management practices to
optimize the performance of complex supply networks. NewVectors
addresses the technology and organizational challenges that impact
successful distribution of goods and services up and down the value
chain and fosters practices that promote continuous process improvement.
We identify and mitigate supply chain risks, improve real-time
visibility into supply chain processes, and eliminate waste across
supply networks.
NewVectors integrates people, processes and technology to enable supply
chain managers to achieve efficient customer response. The results can include:
• Reduced costs and risk
• Improved order fulfillment
• Improved collaboration & business
continuity
• Improved agility
NewVectors offers a set of unique tools to support effective
change management and integration, including:
• Supply Network Agility and Performance (SNAP) Simulation. NewVectors’
SNAP
tool kit identifies obstacles to quick response in dynamic supply
chains and analyzes
different strategies for improving response. The only tool of its kind,
SNAP is based
on a fine-grained agent model that incorporates all production,
logistics, control, and
information elements in a supply chain.
• Robust, Lean Supply Networks (RLSN). Disasters can impede the supply
chain’s
ability to provide timely resources just when they are most needed. RLSN
is a
comprehensive set of tools for identifying, assessing and mitigating
supply chain risks to
help agencies ensure ongoing performance and preparedness.
• Cross-Organizational Change Management (COCM). NewVectors developed
the
COCM tool kit to provide customers with the ability to quickly assess
and respond
to instances in which change affects teams or downstream organizations
that span the boundaries between customer and supplier.
Spotlight on the F/A 18 E/F Super Hornet
NewVectors pioneered the application of lean philosophy to supply chains
and extended value chains. We can customize support for your agency to
deliver measurable results in strategic sourcing metrics and continuous
process improvement initiatives. NewVectors teamed with Boeing supplier
development to improve the nose landing gear supply chain for the Navy’s
F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet. The team analyzed nine companies in the “value
stream” including second- and third-tier suppliers. The team developed a
powerful approach to analyzing supply chains as complex systems, an
expansion of the "lean manufacturing” concept.
The Navy-funded project resulted in overall lead time reductions from 62
to 48 weeks (30% reduction), and inventory reductions in the landing
gear supply chain of 19 percent. As a consequence, participating
suppliers have become stronger and more valuable to their customers, and
the Navy now has a guidebook that provides insights for the improvement
of nearly any supply chain.
