Logistics and Combat System Simulation (LOCSS)

Logistics, critical to any operation, is often not well understood, nor well supported by analysis. NewVectors’ LOCSS is an ARENA-based simulation of the logistics operation of forces. While currently focused on Army forces, LOCSS can represent any type unit in any environment. LOCSS has been used to support the PM Future Combat System (FCS) Lethality, the user community, and the FCS contractors, which address the logistic, operational concept, and reliability issues that surface in the Future Combat System program. LOCSS is also used to analyze existing force structures, logistics capabilities, and operational concepts. It provides an innovative approach to development and testing of combat and logistics systems by modeling potential environments and operations to facilitate the system’s design, development, and emerging operational concept. The simulation can quickly provide statistics that describe the re-supply status and firing operations of several units within a specified force structure. Additionally, the user can define the theater and Unit of Employment logistic operations and capabilities that provide resources to the unit(s) of interest and capture statistics about the efficiency and impact of those operations.
