Jon Marshall wins award for sustained support of the Defense Logistics Agency
Alexandria, Virginia (October 9, 2006) – NewVectors LLC, a subsidiary of Altarum Institute, announced today that Jon Marshall has received an inaugural Rising Star award. Fifty-three winners were selected, with 42 awards conferred to Government IT professionals and only 11 awardees from private industry.
Marshall leads NewVectors’ program management support contract for the Defense Logistics Agency’s Business Systems Modernization and Fuels Automation System programs. With a staff of 10, he is also the lead analyst on all cost and funding documentation, providing leadership to senior DLA executives on federal acquisition regulations and oversight.
His life cycle cost estimates for DLA accurately calculated the cost drivers and core benefits of the agency’s large-scale IT initiatives, which in turn placed DLA on a path to reducing spending by more than $1.2 billion through 2017. “Jon again and again demonstrates his leadership skills, strong analytical abilities and deep economic background” said Bernadette Gregorian, DLA business unit leader at NewVectors.
Federal Computer Week created the Rising Stars award in conjunction with the Young AFCEANs of the Bethesda, Md., chapter of AFCEA International. Founded in 1946, AFCEA is a non-profit international association dedicated to supporting global security by providing an ethical environment that encourages a close cooperative relationship among civil government agencies, the military and industry. The distinguished panel of Rising Star award program judges includes:
Ira Hobbs, Chief Information Officer, Treasury Department;
Steve Kelman, Weatherhead Professor of Public Management, Harvard University;
Mark Krzysko, Assistant Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Strategic Sourcing and Acquisition Processes, Defense Department; and
Phil Kiviat, Partner, Guerra Kiviat.
